Some of the most powerful healing work I have witnessed whilst supporting those who are suffering is through inner child work. So what is it?
Inner child work in therapy isn’t about fixing — it’s about understanding what shaped us, so we can move forward with more awareness and compassion.
💭 It begins by noticing patterns — the moments where our reactions feel bigger, more intense, or harder to manage
🧠 We gently explore where those feelings might have started, often in early emotional experiences
🛡️ We begin to understand the protective roles we developed to cope — and how they may still be showing up today
🤍 Through this process, we learn to respond to ourselves differently — with curiosity rather than judgment
🌱 Over time, we practise “re parenting” — offering ourselves the care, reassurance, boundaries, and safety we may not have fully
received
This is slow, meaningful work — and it doesn’t require perfection, just willingness.
If this resonates, support is available 💬
